Restaurants bearing the extra virgin seal

The establishments which bear the extra virgin seal are restaurants in Les Garrigues that promote extra virgin olive oil and local produce and which have a clear commitment to the local territory.

Recognition criteria for obtaining the seal

The establishments in Les Garrigues that bear the seal have accredited the following commitment to extra virgin olive oil (EVOO):

• They use at least 80% of extra virgin olive oil from Les Garrigues in their kitchens and 100% in their dining rooms.
• They have an olive oil menu or show the use of extra virgin olive oil on their general menus to the required degree.
• They publicise the use of EVOO via their own channels of communication.
• They facilitate and/or offer an initial tasting of EVOO from the local territory, in at least their weekend menu.
• They offer a point of sale for EVOO on their premises.

In relation to local produce from Les Garrigues, restaurants must accredit the following:

• They use a minimum of 50% of local produce and/or product from the “comarca” (local district) of Les Garrigues.
• They promote local products on their menus, indicating their points of origin and the name of the companies that produce them.
• They publicise local products via their own channels of communication.

In relation to local produce, restaurants must certify that:

• 90% of the products that they use are from areas in, or near, the “comarca” (local district) of Les Garrigues.
