GASTRONOMIC TOURISM

Dishes with local flavour

With a markedly agrarian character and strongly rooted in the land, Lleida has proudly preserved a unique cuisine based on an ancestral tradition, without renouncing the creativity of a new and prestigious generation of chefs who have enriched this gastronomy with surprising contributions. A gastronomy of delicate yet vivid flavours, based on local products of proven quality.

Although we are talking about an inland, rustic gastronomy that offers excellent culinary expressions all year round, winter is perhaps the time when it is at its peak.

This gastronomic offer would not be complete without extra virgin olive oil, considered one of the best in the world, and the excellent wines produced by the 36 wineries of the DO Costers del Segre. Their presence is so strong that it has generated two very consolidated movements: olive oil tourism, with a list of 35 experiences, and wine tourism, which attracts thousands of visitors every year through the Lleida Wine Route. Gastronomic days, festivals and fairs confirm the prestige that the counties of Lleida have achieved as a privileged destination for foodies.

From savoury mountain fare, in which beef and lamb, cold meats and cheeses stand out, to the cuisine of the flatlands, where pork, sweet fruits and garden produce steal the show, and with traditional stews as the common denominator, in winter there is no end to the list of Lleida’s culinary delights. Delicious dishes that will allow visitors to enjoy the best flavours the land has to offer.
