Black-eared wheateater

Oenanthe hispanica

The distribution of this characteristically Mediterranean bird is currently mainly limited to the periphery of the Lleida plain and to the northern part of the Ebro valley. The black-eared wheateater requires open Mediterranean scrubland and its population has declined in recent years. In Catalonia, it has a strong nucleus in the southern drylands of the Lleida plain.
