Lleida has gained a privileged position in recent years in the field of sustainability, leading to important international recognitions such as, to cite a few examples, the certification of both the Montsec Astronomy Park and Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park as a Starlight Tourist Destination and Reserve, the Pyrenees and the Lands of Lleida being designated as a Biosphere Destination, or the declaration of the Conca de Tremp–Montsec Orígens Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
